ATL Basketball Families!
My name is Alex Richey and I would like to introduce myself as the new ATL Club Basketball Program Director. Currently, I serve as the Assistant AD and Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Oglethorpe University where I just finished my 6th season. We have had some significant success with 3 straight trips to the NCAA Tournament, two SAA Conference Titles, and ended this past season with a 29-1 record and a Sweet Sixteen appearance as well as a top 10 national ranking, prior to the season being cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to my appointment as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach, I served as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at Oglethorpe for two seasons under current Head Coach Philip Ponder. I also had a fairly successful playing career for the Stormy Petrels where I was able to learn under the mentorship of current NYO Executive Director Josh Burr. I was honored to hear from him in regards to this opportunity to help build upon this great organization.
I am so excited to join the team this upcoming season and am confident that the ATL Bucks program is going to take a gigantic step forward in providing your sons and daughters with a great opportunity to not only compete on the basketball court, but also and more importantly, improve their skills in what will be a great environment this year!
Tryouts are right around the corner (late February) and we are working hard to organize a terrific coaching staff with highly motivated individuals with significant playing and coaching experience as well as ensuring the health and safety of your children to give them a great experience on the court this year.
I look forward to working with you all this year and beyond and can promise you that our athletes and coaches will work hard, have fun, and will compete to the best of our ability.
Go ATL Bucks!
